Aspirin Acne Mask ♥

Hey guys! Today I tried out a mask that I always read about but have never actually tried in the past; an aspirin mask! When I first saw that the ingredients asked for aspirin I was a bit hesitant to try it because lets face it, it's a bit strange to put something that is meant to help with aches and pains, on your face to clear acne. I didn't try it before because I was also nervous that putting medicine on my skin would some how make me sick (what is I overdosed because it seeped into my pores?!) But after I watched a video of Michelle Phan doing that mask I thought it must be okay to try out since she's okay!
Why use aspirin to clear up acne? Well aspirin is an anti-inflammatory so it will reduce redness that acne causes. It also contains salicylic acid which is one of the most commonly used ingredients in acne products as it cleans out pores and exfoliates the skin! I've read a lot of comments from people that have tried it saying it dried up their acne!

So for this mask you'll need:
3-5 uncoated aspirin
Honey
 Water

Some aspirin are coated with a gelatin layer that is usually a color other than white. It makes the aspirin dissolve very slowly so I don't suggest them. If its all you have, soak the pills in a bit of water and after awhile the gelatin will be easier to peel off. I got plain Publix brand aspirin!

First, add 3-5 tablets into a bowl or small cup.

Then, add a teeny, tiny, itty, bitty amount of water. You really only need a few drops. You want the tablets to become a bit pasty. If it becomes a bit too watery, add one more tablet. (Do not add more than 8 tablets!)

Wait for the tablets to dissolve and mix a little. It should look like this!

Lastly, add about a teaspoon of honey, mix and you're done! Once your mask is all mixed and ready, rinse off you face to remove any dirty. As you apply the mask, exfoliate your skin by rubbing it in circles. Then leave it on for about 15 minutes and rinse off!
I really enjoyed this mask! It left my skin very soft and refreshed. I'm going to use it once a week and see if there is any improvement on my acne. If you try this mask, leave a comment!

Turmeric Powder Mask! ♥

Hey guys! So today did a really awesome mask that my good friend Veronicuh suggest a while ago! She told me how great turmeric powder was so I knew I had to look more into it and try it out! I found there are TONS of ways to do this mask. Some masks call for milk, some suggest lemon, some even call for a type of bean powder. I decided to go with three simple ingredients!

Honey
Ground Turmeric
Flour

That's it! Also, I searched all over for turmeric and I couldn't find it anywhere until I got lucky and found a small bottle at Walmart. You might not be able to find it in a commercial store but you will find it at an Indian market or oriental store! Which brings me to the question: What is turmeric?

Turmeric is a orange-colored spice that is imported from India. It is part of the ginger family and has been used in Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian cooking for thousands of years! Turmeric has many, many health benefits such as:
Arthritis treatment
Digestion (stomach aches, gas, bloating, etc)
Liver disease treatment
Chest disease (colds, bronchitis, etc.)
Certain forms of cancer management
Alzheimer's disease and depression management
Infection treatment
Menstrual problems

Isn't it amazing how one spice can help with so much? I also found, turmeric is great for your skin! Every DIY site I visit I can always find mask recipes for turmeric powder! There is a very long list of skincare benefits for turmeric. It can help treat acne blemishes, blackheads, dark spots, hyperpigmentaion and other skin conditions like eczema. It can even prevent dry skin and slow down the aging process! Turmeric is used daily by East Indian women as a facial cleanser and exfoliate, and is becoming more popular in in the US.

So now that we all know the great benefits of turmeric, lets get into how to make it into a great mask!

First, add about a tablespoon of turmeric to you bowl. All measurements can be adjusted to your liking of course.

Next, add your flour. About a tablespoon should be good! The flour will help the mask become a nice thick paste and prevent the honey from sliding all down your face. Flour is also good for oily skin!

Mix up your flour and turmeric!

Now, add about 2 tablespoons of honey! If you've done any of my masks before you'll know honey is GREAT for your skin!

Mix, mix, mix until its nice and pasty! If its too runny, add more flour or turmeric. If its too powdery, add more honey! And you're done!

Cover your skin in a nice layer and leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. Then rise it off and pat dry!

As soon as I took of this mask my skin felt super soft and it stayed less oily throughout the day, even in the hot sun. I'm really excited to used this mask again in the future and see how it improves my skin! If you use this mask already or just now gave it a try, tell me what you think! Thanks!

Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask review! ♥

Hello, hello! Just the other day I was at Walmart, looking for a new, inexpensive, face wash. I frequently use my own DIY masks but when it comes to just washing my face I just uses a little soap and water. So, time to change things up! I have pretty bad acne so I needed something to clear breakouts and blackheads that I can use daily. While I was looking, THIS product really caught my eye!

Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask!

When I saw this I knew I had to try it. Not only is it a daily cleanser, but it is also a mask! You can either apply it, massage in and wash it off in the mornings and night or you can apply it and leaving it on for a few extra minutes as a mask! Pretty cool, huh?

I tried it myself and it feels amazing! It has a surprisingly perfumy, pleasant smell, that isn't too soap-like. But it is really strong when you actually put it all over your face. It feels very cooling and smooth on my skin. It is supposed to clear breakouts and eliminate blackhead causing-impurities while also deep cleaning and eliminating oil for extra shine control!
So far, I really like it! My skin feels soft after I use it and while I have it on it feels like its really working. Online reviews gave it a 4/5 which is pretty good to me! I'll keep using it and see if there is any improvement in my skin!

If you have this product, does it work for you?

Grapefruit Face Mask! ♥

Hey everyone! Today I did a grapefruit face mask!...We'll a KIND of grapefruit face mask. Grapefruit is a citrus fruit with a very bitter taste, but its great with a little sugar on top. I love grapefruit and I find myself eating it more and more everyday. While eating one I wondered, like many fruits, if the grapefruit has any benefits for your skin. We all know fruits in general are great for you but in what way is a grapefruit good for you?
Health
  • People use the fruit, oil from the peel and and extracts from the seeds as medicine.
  • Grapefruit juice is used for high cholesterol, cancer, psoriasis (a skin disease), weight loss, and obesity.
  • The extracts from the seeds help fight bacterial, viral and fungal infections.
  • Grapefruit is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C and fiber.
  • Grapefruit has lycopene, a cancer fighting chemical.
  • It is used for the common cold and flu.
  • Grapefruit is good for treating infections and preventing gingivitis and prompting health gums.
Skin
  • Grapefruit can be applied to the skin for muscle fatigue, toning the skin, acne, and oily skin.
  • It contains bioflavanoids that help promote skin health.
  • Vitamin C is necessary for collagen production in the skin and grapefruit has tons of it.
  • Grapefruit extracts increase pH of skin which can reduce acne.
  • Grapefruit extracts have anti-aging benefits in them.
  • It is also has great astringent and exfoliating properties.

See! So many benefits in one small fruit! Now in this mask, its actually pairs with two other ingredients which may cause you to raise an eyebrow. All you need it:
A ripe grapefruit
Sour cream
Parsley
Honey

Sour...cream?...Parsley?....
Yep! Sour cream is a great moisturizer and gentle exfoliate! It contains lactic acid that helps brighten your complexion! All the natural fats bring back the moisture to your skin too! Parsley is abundant with nutrients and the vitamin C in the herb helps speed up the collagen production in your skin and sooth tired skin.

So this mask is fairly easy there are just many ways it can be done depending on your resources and it involves chopping. That's about it. I tried my best to simplify it so that you don't need to crack out the juicer/blender and you don't need to be a master chef.

The first thing you need to do is cut your grapefruit in half. Take one of the halves and you can
A. Scoop out ALL the inside fruit and blend it
OR
B.  Just squeeze it with your hands!
I just squeezed it. Make sure you get plenty of pulp out. You want about quarter cup of juice. You can use a measuring cup but if you're good at measuring you can just eye ball it.

Next, open up your sour cream! 4 big tablespoons of it should be enough!

Kind of icky lol
(Note: If you don't want to use sour cream you can use a unflavored plain yogurt instead!)

Here comes the hard part! Time to chop up your parsley (Note: Don''t use dried parsley, all the nutrients is sucked out of that! If its all you have you can use it thought.) If you have a blender, toss it in there and blend it so its in small pieces or chop it up. You only need a tablespoon or two of parsley. When you're done, toss it in and give your mask a good mix!

Here is what your mask should look like now! You're almost done!

Add a tablespoon or two of honey!

Done! You're ready to apply your mask! Rub it on in circular motions all over your face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes.  The sour cream should have dried on the skin leaving only bits of parsley visible! Rinse it off with warm water.

I tried this face mask and after 25 minutes with it on (An episode of Family Guy distracted me) I rinsed it off and my face was super smooth! My skin as bright all day. I would definitely do this mask again.! If you still smell like sour cream after you wash it off, feel free to use your own face cleanser.

WARNING!
If you are on any medications please double check that grapefruit doesn't interact with it. Grapefruit juice may increase dangerous side affects or cause medication to be less effective!

Thank you for trying it out and tell me how it worked for you!
